Perhaps you learned to dive on holiday, and find your skills are pretty rusty for those one or two weeks a year when you go diving. Or maybe you trained with another agency (PADI, SSI, RAID, to name but three) and want to expand your diving experience and enjoy some of the amazing diving available around the shores of the UK. Or perhaps you just moved into the area. ESAC welcomes all of you!

The great news is that BSAC recognises qualifications awarded by other agencies. Depending on the qualifications you hold, you can dive with us up to the limits of your card. If you want to refresh your skills, then of course we will support you fully.

The BSAC system also offers crossover courses. This allows you to top up your existing skills to take you to the appropriate BSAC level. There’s information on the BSAC page here, but let’s hear directly from one of our crossover divers.

I qualified as a PADI Open Water diver in Bali (yes, really) and since then I’ve dived most holidays. Along the way I picked up PADI Advanced Open Water and Nitrox certifications, but I was always really out of practice when I went back into the water and this spoiled my enjoyment. I initially started on the entry-level Ocean Diver course with ESAC, but after a few sessions my instructor felt my skills were good enough to go for Sports Diver. I needed to pick up rescue skills, but learning those was really rewarding. Joining my local club was a big win from every perspective.
